He also carries parti through his parti dam.  Sable gold can be bred to any parti, blue and tan, or chocolate to produce sable colored pups approximately 50% of the time. You only need one parent to be sable in order to produce the sable gold color (sable gold color is a result of a dominant gene). This is a nice way to bring another color into your litters without having to to purchase 2 dogs that carry the same recessive gene like you have to do with the parti and chocolate colors ... research A Locus in the canine - sables are "ay", black and tans are "at".
